American Horror Story Reveals New Season, ‘Apocalypse’

American Horror Story has started to tease parts of their new season, named “Apocalypse”, set to release this fall. The news comes from their social media profiles, which has posted images this morning revealing the title and theme of the new season. The images display the title, accompanied by a picture of a red baby being cradled by witch-like hand. The new season comes after the success of their last season, “Cult”, which focused on the presidential election of 2016 with a twist.

Show creator Ryan Murphy states, “It’s not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season. We’re sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven. That’s the tone of it.” The baby on the preview cover is assumed to be the antichrist that Constance (Jessica Lange), one of the main characters from the first season, discovers at the Murder House in the finale episode. The upcoming season of AHS is assumed to be a mashup of the first and third season, the latter of which carried a witch theme.

Murphy confirmed through season 6, Roanoke, that all seasons exist within the same time and are connected. He states, “You’ll see it explode in seasons seven and eight.”

This excites a lot of AHS original fans to wonder if some of the original cast members such as Jessica Lange and Connie Britton will return for the new season. Season 8 will include a lot of familiar faces including Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts and more.

The Fox series is set to premiere September 12.
