Netflix announced last Tuesday it was suspending production for the final season of the hit show “House of Cards”, following accusations of unwanted sexual advancements against its star Kevin Spacey.

Netflix and Media Rights Capital, the studio behind the show, said in a statement that production was being halted “to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew.”

The statement was followed by another announcement Friday night, where Media Rights Capital added that it would suspend Kevin Spacey while it investigates “serious allegations” concerning the actor’s behavior on set. Netflix had said in a separate statement that it would not involve itself with any further production including Kevin Spacey.

On October 30th, BuzzFeed released an article in which actor Anthony Rapp came forward with accusations of unwanted sexual advancement again Mr. Spacey. The article quickly became viral online and was followed by an official statement from Mr. Spacey. He stated he does not recollect the event, but apologizes for his “deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”

Netflix announced that Season 6 would be the final season of ‘House of Cards’ in less than 24 hours following Mr. Spacey’s statement.
