The Halloween season is upon us! These thrillers and Halloween-themed releases are sure to put you into the spirit of the holiday. Before you put on your costumes and hit the streets, check out some of these frightening (or not-so-frightening) movies!

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

Based on the popular book series by R.L. Stine, this children’s horror movie follows two young boys accidentally releasing Slappy the Dummy and the Goosebumps monsters in their town, causing a wave of destruction on Halloween night. Goosebumps 2 released October 12 in theaters nationwide.

The ‘Halloween’ franchise is a classic when it comes to… well, Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode in the new film, where she returns to Haddonfield, Illinois to face Michael Myers once more. The movie released on October 19, and have received positive reviews from critics and promises a refreshing take on the Halloween franchise.

Bad Times at the El Royale

Seven Strangers meet at The El Royale, a run-down hotel that sits on the border between California and Nevada. Each with a secret to bury, the strangers converge on one fateful night at the El Royale for a shot at salvation. ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’ released October 12.

The House With a Clock in Its Walls

‘The House with a Clock in its Walls’ is a fantasy film that follows a young boy named Lewis, who is sent to live with his uncle but accidentally awakesn the dead on Halloween. Based on a novel by John Bellairs, the film stars Jack Black and Cate Blanchett. The film released last month on September 21, with select IMAX screenings featuring a 3D version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller for the first week of release.
